Crucial Steps You Need To Take When Selecting A Self Tanning Lotion

October 23rd, 2010

If you ask any woman whether or not she’d like to improve her looks, 10 out of 10 would say yes. And it’s not just women. For men these days, looks are just as important. Looking attractive and beautifully tanned in summer is great. But how about some of us who need that bronze tan other times of a year? Let’s face it, good looking individuals get jobs easier, gain career faster and simply have more success in life. And one of their secret methods is natural looking tanning solution all year long. But besides tanning salons, there are much better, much safer ways to have that sexy color on your skin. I’m talking about tanning lotions.

Tanning lotions, creams come in many different shapes and sizes. A lot of consumers get confused and wonder which is the better option for them. Should you listen to the celebrity on TV or a salesperson in a beauty shop, or a link posted on a skin care forum? You can stop guessing, cause I’ll show you how to choose the best products. And when it comes to tanning, the last thing you want to do is go to tanning salons. I know, many use them, but reality is that they are very dangerous. Studies show that these booth tanning lights cause cancer. It’s one of the main reasons why tanning creams and lotions are now becoming more and more popular. So let’s see what better options do we have shall we?

Self Tanning Lotions

Before you go and select the tan cream, first you need to figure out your skin type. Self tanning lotions are divided into 5 groups. 1st for lightest skin type and 5th for the darkest. Choosing the wrong lotion type will result in no effect at all to you. For skin that burns in the sun easily, you should pick a lotion with cooling features.

For outdoors, you can choose a tanning lotion that protects from UV rays, so you get as little damage to your skin as possible. There is even specially formulated sunless tan cream for tanning booths. Lastly you have the option of using tanning lotions with skin peeling abilities. There are many options. But the most important is to find the lotion that will give that desired brown, natural and non glossy effect to your skin.

One question that comes often from people is whether these at home tanning products are effective and can they damage your skin in some way? You don’t need to worry, tanning products are not harmful if you pick a reputable brand or the ones I recommend on my website. These tanning solutions contain an ingredient called dihydroxyacetone. It reacts with your amino acids that reside on a skin and creates a reaction. As a result you get a brownish looking body. When the topper skin layer peels away, the natural skin color comes back and you can reapply it again.

Lastly, for specific skin types which can’t get the wanted brown color, and instead burn red creams are the only and best solution for that matter. You prevent skin cancer, and can look attractive all year long with an inexpensive solution like tanning lotion.

Easy Methods To Grow Older With Pride

September 20th, 2010

There is a saying that goes You are what you eat. It means that when you love to eat garbage, you will become like garbage (or at least look like garbage). If you want to feel younger you must change your eating habits. I don’t mean to say you eat less; you just eat the right food in the right way. Fruits and vegetables should be a daily part of your diet from now on since they are rich in vitamins that make you literally look younger.

Get rid of bodily wastes and toxins by drinking a good amount of water every day. Water is very crucial when it comes to proper digestion so instead of ordering iced tea or soda every time you eat in a restaurant, just drink water. Water is also considered as the most effective moisturizer. No wonder why people who can’t get enough of water have dry skin.

When you usually feel weaker than you probably should, maybe that’s because you spend most of your time sitting or lying around doing nothing. Regular exercise will help you maintain your bones and muscles as you grow older. A 30-minute brisk walking exercise daily will also strengthen your heart and reduce your risk for life-threatening diseases.

The best time for the body to repair and heal itself is during sleep. So don’t deprive yourself of this wonderful gift. Lack of sleep has been linked to high blood pressure and heart diseases. That means you will have a healthier heart if you get to sleep from seven to nine hours every night.

It is said that the older a person gets, the more frustrations and fears he has in life. This is probably why a lot of people die depressed. If you want to avoid this in your life, be more optimistic. Healthy people have a positive mindset in life, so leave the past behind and race toward your goal whatever it is.

Stress is your number one enemy especially when you are aging. The older you get, the more stress you have. Eliminate stress and you will eliminate almost all your health problems. How do you that? Go for a vacation with your spouse and children. You will get the most out of life if you learn to enjoy rather than allow stress to control you.

Top Notch Food Products For That More Youthful Looking Complexion

September 10th, 2010

We have a tendency to notice the negative things first over the positive ones. Most of the, time we are quicker to criticize than to praise. Maybe this is also the reason why the first thing we look for in our face in front of the mirror is a wrinkle or a pimple. Who wants to have a dark spot in his or her face anyway? We all want to have beautiful skin, but we don’t know how to achieve it. But if there’s a problem there is also a solution, and here are some solution to your skin problems. Read on.

The cells in our body age fast when exposed to substances called free radicals. It means when these substances damage our skin cells, our skins will look older than it should be. Thank God for the avocado! Avocado is a fruit rich in nutrients including vitamins E and B. Most of the vitamins found in avocado can lower cholesterol. But most all these nutrients help your skin become wrinkle-free!

Second on my list are grapes. Grapes are considered to be heart healthy fruit, and also reduce the risk for stroke. But do you know that it is skin-healthy as well? Grape seeds contain antioxidant that fight off wrinkles. They are also rich in oil that can soften the skin when applied to it. In fact, most skin care products nowadays contain grapes!

One vegetable that should always be found in your food cabinet is carrot! It’s one of the best when you talk about skin-care. Carrots directly affect your skin in a positive way since it has beta carotene that actually settles in the skin when consumed. It also serves as protection against the darkening rays of the sun. No wonder Bugs Bunny loves carrots!

If you want a natural sun block for your skin, try eating salmon. Omega-3 fatty acids that are found in it can actually ward off ultraviolet light from the sun! Aside from that, it also acts as moisturizer by locking in fluids in the surface of the skin. Now, tell me, are these exploits by the fish called salmon not enough to put it on the list of skin-healthy food?

And finally, water. Although I placed water at the bottom of the list of healthy foods that are good for the skin, it doesn’t mean it has the least benefits. Actually it’s in the last because it’s simply the best when it comes to taking care of your skin. Drinking plenty of water makes your skin glow brighter. It also energizes you and doesn’t just make you look younger; it makes you feel younger and stronger too.

Reviews Of The Best Sunscreen -Is Your Sunscreen Safe?

June 27th, 2010

For years we’ve been told to use sunscreen – even on a cloudy day – to not only protect our skin against aging, but from cancer too. However, new research is suggesting that maybe our sunscreen (or at least the chemicals it contains) maybe causing cancer! How is that possible!

We all know that sunscreens are supposed to block the UVA and UVB rays of the sun. UVA rays penetrate the skin deeply and cause wrinkles and premature aging. UVB rays mostly cause skin burring.

Sunscreens – not sun block – function through creating a chemical barrier between the UVA and UVB ray and our skin. Sunscreens are labeled with an SPF rating which means sun protection levels. Of course, the higher the SPF the higher the level of protection.

But, this number is somewhat confusing to some people. An SPF of 15 only means it will block 93% of the suns UV rays, and an SPF 30 will only block 97% — Many people think an SPF of 30 means it is twice strong or offers twice the protection…..it does not! This is why you still need to keep covered during the day when the sun’s rays are the strongest and if possible keep covered. Also, a sunscreen with a higher SPF also means more chemicals used and g according to some recent studies this may not be a good thing!

A few scientist are questioning the safety of some of the most popular chemicals found in most sunscreens. They have found evidence that certain chemicals could affect hormone levels (such changing estrogen levels within the body) and others may have significant impact on our DNA levels.

And, they also suspect that some chemicals found in our sunscreen may not protect us from sun damage at all. And worst of all they suspect that some may even cause certain types of skin cancer. Researchers actually have identified 5 chemicals they suspect might be a problem and down right unsafe for us to use. Sun Dangers And The Use Of Sunscreens

February 24th, 2010

Years ago the fashionable trend was to get a rich, dark tan. Baby oil was a favorite to use to get a good tan. No real thought was given to the possibility of a tan causing any problems. Fortunately, in our world today, almost everyone is aware of the dangers of getting a tan. An excellent way to protect yourself is to use effective sunscreens.

Sunscreens were developed to provide sun protection. Both UVA and UVB rays from the sun can be dangerous. Although UVB ray damage is more noticeable because it causes a burn or rash, UVA rays can be just as damaging.

Sun protection can be in the form of lotions, ointments, sprays, waxes and creams. Some parts of the body are best protected with different forms, so be sure to use one that gives the best protection. All types of sun protection should have an SPF rating on the container. Usually, the higher the number, the better their protection. An SPF of at least thirty is recommended. In some instances, even higher numbers might best. For protection against both UVB and UVA rays a formula called a broad spectrum should be used.

Whatever the form of the sun protection you use, they must be properly used. Application at least thirty minutes before sun exposure is highly recommended. Reapplication should be at least every two hours, or more often if you swim sweat, or dry yourself off. Water-resistant formulas should still be reapplied. At least an ounce should be used for the applications. It should be spread evenly, so that no spots are missed. Self-tanners are very popular, but even with these, sun protection is still needed.

There are many advantages to using a topical sun protector. Most people do not realize that most wrinkles are the result of sun damage. Also some of the worst skin cancers are caused when the skin is not protected from the damage of the sun.

Using topical sun protection can inhibit your absorption of vitamin d that is normally gained from sun exposure. Other ways should be found to get this important vitamin in your system. Although some people believe that they are safe using tanning beds instead of lying in the sun, the tanning beds can cause just as much damage and harm as direct sun exposure.

When using topical sun protection, make sure it has not expired. Most should last about 3 years, but be sure to check the container. Also keep in mind that snow, sand, and water reflect the sun rays so be sure to use sun protection. Also sun rays can still be damaging on cloudy days, so do not stop protecting yourself.

Using sunscreen will definitely help to prevent some of the damage from the sun. However, there are other things that you can do. Wearing UV sunglasses is a good way to help protect your eyes. Avoid being outside between 10 and 4 each day, as this is when the sun can cause the worst damage. Go to shady areas whenever possible. Use clothing to protect your skin. Some detergents now are made with formulas that can aid in sun protection. Even a big hat can give you some protection. For babies, it is not recommended to use topical sun protectors on a child less than six month old. Make sure they are kept in shady areas and are covered and protected as much as possible from the sun.

Sunscreens are an excellent defense in the battle against sun damage. Using them along with following some common sense guidelines can help to protect you and your family.

There is absolutely no doubting the fact that an excellent way to protect yourself is to use effective sunscreens. We have got the inside skinny on the best sunscreen available.
