Water and Beauty
Water is essential to skin and body health. There are so many different types of water such as purified water, distilled water, mineral water, etc. Are all these water good for us? What are their differences? How do we choose the right type of water from them?
The purest type of water is purified water which has all the impurities removed. The impurities may be removed by many methods including deionization and distillation. Purified water helps regulate body metabolism and nourish skin because it has high solubility and appetence to body cells. But, people may lack trace elements for prolonged drinking of purified water because these elements are removed during the distillation and deionization process.
Electrolyzed water is produced by water electrolysis. Some believed that electrolyzed water fights free radicals which cause skin aging. Though free radicals may be destroyed during electrolysis, there is not much free radical in water indeed. Electrolyzed water does reduce the number of free radicals in test tube experiments, but there is no prove that the same will happen in human body.
Glacier water is fresh and uncontaminated because of the natural source of glacier ice. Other than freshness, glacier water contains large amount of natural elements such as lithium, strontium and metasilicic acid. The element amount from 1.5 liter of glacier water is sufficient for a daily requirement for an adult. Other than natural elements, glacier water also helps increase skin elasticity and facilitates blood circulation.
Mineral water can be easily found in supermarket. Such bottled water can be natural or artificial ones. The bottled mineral water is usually artificial with only several types of minerals (usually potassium and magnesium) added. Therefore, artificial mineral water is really difficult to achieve the mineral balance of the natural ones.
Mineral water is believed to be good for skin health because of its high silica content. Silica helps strengthen spongy cells and elastin fibers. This prevents wrinkle formation. It can be drunk or use externally (cleansing and moisturizing) for beauty purpose.
