Does Lap Band Surgery Help Prevent Against Diabetes?

March 24th, 2010

The obesity rates across the country have risen so high that it is now consider an epidemic. The staggering increase in obesity rates has resulted in a high number of serious health conditions. One such disease associated with obesity is Type 2 Diabetes. If not properly managed, Type 2 Diabetes can lead to a number of serious conditions such as kidney disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, blindness, and amputation. Because a major cause of this type of diabetes is obesity, finding an effective weight loss method has become essential to reducing the risk of diabetes, alleviating this disease thereby making it more manageable, and even eliminating the disease altogether. One such method of dropping the excess weight to prevent diabetes is undergoing Lap Band Surgery.

Recent medical research has revealed that Lap Band Surgery is an effective treatment to improve or even eliminate the cause of Type 2 Diabetes in obese people. Lap Band Surgery (Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding Surgery,) involves placing an inflatable tube around the stomach to reduce the amount of food intake. The tube is filled with saline to reduce the size of the stomach. The size of the stomach is adjusted by adding and withdrawing the saline. The reduced food intake results in a drastic amount of weight loss.

Patients who have had this safe and minimally invasive surgery have seen a drastic reduction in the risk of getting Type 2 Diabetes, have alleviated the symptoms of the disease, and have even resolved the disease. As well, not only do patients achieve a drastic drop in weight, but the health improvements have been seen in patients of all ages. For instance, a significant drop in weight coincides with a decrease in insulin levels and blood glucose levels.

For those who suffer from obesity where their health is at risk, traditional diet programs have not been very helpful at helping them achieve healthy weight loss. In fact, the diet industry in general, is a multi billion dollar a year business that has very little proven results. Due to improvements in weight loss surgery such as the development of Lap Band Surgery, obese people now have an effective method to not only lose weight, but the result will improve and resolve such health conditions as Type 2 Diabetes. Those who are obese and have a BMI of 40+ are normally the most viable candidates for this weight loss procedure. To be considered a potential candidate for the surgery, you will undergo a medical screening process to ensure it will be safe for you to undergo the procedure.

Because unmanaged diabetes can lead to very serious and even fatal health conditions, Lap Band Surgery is a helpful solution to cure morbid obesity and prevent diabetes. If you are obese and are concerned your obesity will lead to serious health conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes, you may want to consider Lap Band Surgery. It is important to discuss this surgery with your physician to learn the risks and benefits of having this weight loss procedure.

Laparoscopic Lap band blog is designed to induce weight loss by limiting food consumption. The adjustable gastric band is the safest surgical procedure for weight loss, unique because it is adjustable and reversible. When doing research for laparoscopic surgery, read up about Lap band surgery cost and be sure to visit the CIBO Weight Loss Clinic.

Losing That Beer Belly Requires A Number Of Endowments

March 18th, 2010

Losing the beer gut

Having a 40 inch waste can hugely increase the chance of diabetes!

Losing that beer gut needs a number of attributes :

Data determination motivation Discipline

Awareness of the food stuffs which are more likely to cause beer bellies is an advantage. I suppose lager is the best place to start. The carbohydrates in beer will cause the storage of fat cells. Reducing lager intake and changing to a low carbohydrate alternative has advantages. White bread is also high in carbs, making the switch to wholemeal and brown bread is a brilliant idea. There is a meal replacement supplement which gives a hundred percent of the suggested daily amounts of minerals and vitamins.

Focused exercises are also wanted to cut back the beer belly. In contrast to common belief sit ups won’t do the job. Abdominals will be built but they’re going to be under the stomach pushing out making the gut making it look bigger.

Cardiovascular exercises for no less than twenty mins will burn burn calories. You might try :

Bike riding Star jumps Swimming Step aerobics Swinging a kettle bell

The Oblique muscles are on the sides of the stomach. Exercising these muscles will have the affect of drawing the gut in. Windmills are a good exercise for this. For the windmill exercise you will need a dumbbell or a kettle bell. Stand with your feet around two feet apart. Turn your left foot barely to the left. Raise the weight in your right hand directly into the air. Without bending your knees bend sideways to your left and touch your left foot with your left hand while keeping the weight straight in the right hand. When you have touched your foot straighten back up. Repeat this 10 times. Then switch the weight to the left hand and reverse the standing position. Repeat on the right hand side for 10 reps. Repeat this 3 times at least twice a week.

Have you ever come across this link? How to Lose stubborn belly fat. Be clear of this link also How to Lose a beer belly.

Think About the Numbers for Losing Fat

March 12th, 2010

It is a known fact that 3500 calories is a pound of body weight and to lose one pound, you must reduce your intake of calories by 3,500. Given that information, if you want to lose five pounds in one week, you must reduce your calories by 17,500!

Seriously, if your average diet is 2000 calories per day, which is enough to keep you healthy, you only take in 14,000 calories for the entire week. You can take off one pound, but that won’t work to lose five pounds in one week, because you don’t have anything to keep you alive. Losing five pounds means burning everything you eat in a week, plus 500 calories that you don’t have every day. Or don’t eat for nine days. Obviously, if your goal is five pound per week, you can’t do it by diet alone.

Here’s what will happen when you stop eating: Your body recognizes that there is no food and goes into hibernation mode. This is not a conscious decision, it’s involuntary, like your heartbeat or breathing. The first thing it does is gives up water, and that means protein, which is 75% water, and constitutes lean muscle mass. After it depletes your water, it will start to burn carbohydrates, which causes you to store fat. In other words, you will start to gain weight. This is a metabolism thing, where your body reacts by slowing down the burn rate, and any food you take in is immediately sent to the fat storage unit. You have to change your metabolism or you won’t lose weight, you’ll put more on.

You have to control the burn rate, not the caloric intake. I mentioned body builders a minute ago. They eat like they will never have another meal. For all the food they take in, they should weight 400 pounds, but they don’t. They have learned to speed up their metabolism, so what they eat is going into muscle building, not fat storing.

One thing is for sure: Body Builders are mostly protein, and very little fat. They don’t eat a lot of Big Macs and Whoppers. They have a totally different diet with protein drinks and bars and shakes. They couple that with some simple exercises, and they control their metabolisms. If you like that sort of look, they are usually pretty hot, yet they eat like there won’t be food tomorrow. You have to control the burn rate, not the caloric intake.

Fact is, you can’t just diet and make fat go away, so you have to make a complete lifestyle choice. You want to lose weight? Start with a little exercise. Get your metabolism kicked up. Once that starts to take off a little weight, THEN you start your diet, and after that you increase your exercise. When you start AFTER you have increased your metabolism, the work will be more effective. The pounds will come off faster and more easily. The weight loss is a lifestyle change and more likely to stay off.

This isn’t about trying to sell you a product; it’s about what will be good for you. Wrap your head around the fact that you put your weight on because you don’t burn everything that you eat. You store some of it, and over time, that weight becomes your weight problem. Storage is driven by consumption, and consumption is mostly about water. Protein is 75% water. When you go on a diet, after you clear out the water you burn protein from your storehouse.

The real deal is, diet alone won’t make fat go away, so you have to make a complete lifestyle choice. You want to slim down? Start with light exercise. Get your metabolism kicked up. Once that starts to take off a little weight, start your diet. After that, up your exercise. You need to wait to start until you have increased your metabolism, and all your work will be more effective. The pounds will come off faster and more easily. The weight loss is more likely to be a lifestyle loss.

Ifyour diet come toms to be taking forever, remember that 3500 calories is one pound of fat. Here’s your chance, visit my website at the link, or come to my blog. There’s lots of articles and the blog has some great stuff as well.

Is Lap Band Surgery Good For Severe Asthmatics?

March 5th, 2010

The rapid increase in obesity across the country has resulted in a number of serious health problems. Many of these health problems can deteriorate a person\’s quality of life and even shorten a person\’s life. One such health condition that is made worse when obese is asthma. Studies are now showing that there is a link between asthma and morbid obesity. For people who are suffering from severe obesity, lap band surgery has been shown to be an effective method of weight loss that reduces instances of severe asthma attacks.

Obesity has been proven to be a risk factor for such diseases as heart disease, some types of cancer, and diabetes. Now, research studies are revealing that obesity is a risk factor for asthma. For instance, studies now show the risk for developing asthma increases when there is a large increase in weight. When a person is seriously overweight, their breathing becomes shallow because their lungs do not expand as much as it would if one were a normal healthy weight. As well, in obese individuals, there is a chronic inflammation of the lungs which reduces the airway passage. The inflammation takes place in the fatty tissue. A narrower airway passage also means the airways will remain blocked when breathing normally which reduces oxygen exchange. The airways will contract more causing more asthma symptoms. Narrow airways in obese asthmatics are more likely to stay closed during normal breathing which results in reduced oxygen exchange which puts one in a higher risk category for pulmonary hypertension. As well, obese people are more prone to sleep apnea and gastroesophageal reflux disease which can make asthma worse.

When a person suffers from obesity, they tend to have more severe asthma problems than those who are not obese. With a weight loss surgery such as lap band surgery, there can be considerable improvement for people suffering from asthma. With the loss of the excess fat, lung function will improve, inflammation will subside, the air passages will open up, and people will breathe better. As well, they will need less medication and there will be fewer trips to the hospital due to a severe asthma attack.

Lap band surgery has become a popular weight loss procedure to treat obesity because it is minimally invasive with few side effects. As well as having proven positive health results, the procedure normally takes less than an hour and the patient recovery time is short with most patients going home just a few hours after the procedure. It is also the only reversible option and post operative lap band adjustments are made without additional surgery.

During home recovery, the patient will have simple diet to follow as they learn how to eat healthy and the correct amounts of food. Lap band surgery is a great option for those suffering from obesity and serious health problems such as asthma. When considering any type of surgery, it is important to consult with a physician to learn about the benefits and risks involved with the procedure.

The CIBO clinic\’s adjustable gastric band offers the safest, sustainable results in weight loss by reducing the amount of food your stomach can hold. Despite the lab band cost, there are many advantages. You can lose weight without hunger and feel full longer with support before and after your laparoscopic surgery. Read more about the experience in Lapband blog.

Toning Arms And Tricep Dips

February 22nd, 2010

You are most likely having a somewhat challenging time picking the best exercises to get rid of arm fat. I know because many women are in this same situation.

When did choosing arm exercises become so perplexing? After all, every single guru out there seems to have a different view as to which exercises are the best.

Now if the gurus have different opinions, how are you supposed to form an opinion? To make matter worse, some women will not even get going because of all the confusion.

But I come to you with good news. I\’ve already gone through all the information and sifted through all the marketing webs. And I\’m ready to share my findings.

Thus, here is my critique of the tricep dip to get rid of arm fat:

1. Summary: So many trainers recommend this exercise to women wishing to get toned arms. Unfortunately, this is a very dangerous exercise for the shoulder joint.

2. Technical overview: Put your hands on the edge of a bench. Keep both heels of your feet firmly planted into the floor. Slowly lower your body by bending your arms at the elbows. Then bring your body back up.

3. Common errors: Allowing the back to curl excessively. Jerking the torso upwards to gain momentum. Allowing the elbows to shift around. And not going through the entire range of motion.

4. Bottom line: Do not do this exercise, ever. It\’s simply not worth the risk to your shoulders. Once your shoulder gives out, it\’s very hard to get it back to 100%. There are equally effective exercises for toning your arms that do NOT involve such risk.

Injuring your shoulder will set back your mission to get rid of arm fat by many steps. And in some cases it can completely prevent you from reaching said goal. The shoulder joint is very mobile and delicate. So please stay safe for long term success!

How To Make Your Lungs Super Powerful

February 18th, 2010

Unfortunately, in this day and age your answer is probably no. And oxygen is required to produce energy in virtually every tissue in your body. Without oxygen, energy will vanish.

And recall that lungs are the primary structures responsible for getting oxygen to all your tissues. As a result, healthy lungs translate into healthy living.

So, without further delay, here is how to make your lungs healthy:

1. Work them: Just like other structures in your body, your lungs have muscle. And if you work this muscle they will get stronger. One effective way to do this is by practicing deep breathing on a daily basis. Doing so will help make your diaphragm stronger.

2. Stay away from congested areas: Being around lots of traffic or congestion every once in a while is not going to cause much harm, it\’s the chronic exposure that you need to avoid at all costs. You see, being exposed to lots of traffic is a primary risk factor for lung disease.

3. Consider supplementation: Magnesium, for instance, is a supplement that can relax your bronchial tubes which in turn helps you breathe more easily. And if breathing is easier, you can get more oxygen into your lungs. Caffeine is also a supplement that can help in this department.

4. Load up on greens: Having lots of greens in your diet is associated with lower levels of lung disease. We still don\’t know why this happens, but it happens nonetheless. So make sure you have at least some vegetables with every meal you eat.

5. Stay away from cigarettes: If you are a chronic smoker, please seek help to beat the addiction. The risks here are simply too great. Keep in mind that smoking is not only associated with lung cancer, it\’s also associated with a whole range of other diseases.

Optimal lung health is necessary for optimal living. Without a powerful set of lungs, you will not be able to maximize your quality of life. So make sure you take action on this information today!

Get free and valuable information on the top toning methods to really get toned and tight arms quickly by going to Katherine Crawford\’s M.S. website Sleeveless in 7.
